Join Dragonfly Field Labs for a beginners whittling session! We will use knives and 'wood peelers' to whittle designs into a walking stick, then we will take it for a hike through the park.
Activities include:
>Learning how to safely use a knife or wood peeler for creating designs
>Learning how and why to whittle
>Creating a custom designed walking stick or a "forest poker" (a stick good for poking into things during a hike)
>Go on a hike to explore the forest and appreciate the many trees and plants
Who is this for?
This program is designed for participants ages 6-106, but students ages 4&5 are welcome to participate with parent assistance. Participants will be using real knives or wood peelers, so keep this in mind when considering whether or not this is for your child. If you need any additional accommodations, feel free to reach out and we can discuss what we are able to provide within reason.
